Being unfaithful to a spouse or other partner is referred to as infidelity or cheating. It usually refers to violating a promise or interactions with someone who is not your significant other.

 

Neglect, commitment or self-esteem difficulties, a lack of intimacy, or even retaliation are among reasons why people can cheat on someone they love. It is likely that someone who has cheated in the past will do so again, although not always. A relationship can be repaired after infidelity; it does not spell the end of a partnership.
