Originally from Nebraska, Kamarudeen Usman is a professional mixed martial artist who is also a former freestyle wrestler and retired folkstyle wrestler. He is the former UFC Welterweight Champion and currently competes in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Usman also took first place in The Ultimate Fighter 21 competition. He is currently ranked first in the UFC men’s welterweight division as of November 14, 2022, and eighth in the men’s pound-for-pound division as of June 20, 2023.

Usman was born in Nigeria’s Auchi.

His mother was a teacher, while his father served as a major in the Nigerian Army. Mohammed, one of his two brothers who is also a mixed martial artist and a fellow winner of The Ultimate Fighter, and Kashetu are both fighters. Usman was raised in a simple environment as a child. When Usman was eight years old, his father Muhammed Nasiru Usman, who later immigrated to the United States and trained as a pharmacist, brought his family with him. They settled in Dallas, Texas.
