Akhona Makalima is a South African well-known female referee who has been in the industry for a long time now.

Not only in South Africa, but in many countries around the world, they do not have female referees.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The reason behind that might be a responsibility of being a referee. Being a referee is not something easy, you have to be prepared to take responsibility, critism from the supporters and more.

Well, Akhona Makalima has been in the field for quite some time now and it looks like she manages to deal with that pressure.

She is also the FIRST certified soccer referee in South Africa who is a woman.

Akhosi officiates in the Premier Soccer League, FIFA, South African Football Association and also in the women’s league here in South Africa.

She actually grew up in Eastern cape. At the age of only 23, Akhona was already a referee.
