Check Out More About Shawn Mkhize And How She Makes Her Money

Her work began in 1996 when she graduated from Durban University of Technology with a Diploma in Accounting. She went on to work in financial departments for several firms, but she was inspired to start her own business to provide a better living for herself and her family because she was dissatisfied with her position. Her motivation was fueled by a desire to serve people and be a catalyst for change. She began by working on little projects for the local government, such as feeding initiatives, painting, and construction work.

Florence, her mother, was an ANC councilor in eThekwini until she died in 2008. She had begun a construction company, Zikhulise Construction, before her death, which was handed over to Shawn. Shawn had married Sbu Mpisane, a metro police officer, in 1991. Mpisane later left the force to work full-time with his wife in the business. Zikhulise Construction drove her to her current status as a multi-millionaire.

She has a net worth of R300 million, according to the online celebrity newspaper Zales. Her company was awarded multimillion-rand tenders in eThekwini and KwaDukuza to construct RDP dwellings.

In April 2021, she teamed up with SABC 1’s Expressions and the Department of Correctional Services to deploy jail prisoners to help build 20 houses for the underprivileged.

Throughout her career, Mkhize has had multiple run-ins with the law. She was charged with corruption and convicted of fraud, and she was said to owe the South African Revenue Service (SARS) more than R200 million at one point.

Mkhize bought Bloemfontein Celtic from the PSL in mid-2021 for a reported R50 million, renamed the team Royal AM, and relocated it to KwaZulu-Natal.
