Even the best artists and performers in the world occasionally fall short of their lofty standards.

It was like the old Generations cast who spread the word about how they got paid peanuts before they went on strike that eventually led to the inadequacy of their roles in South African show business altogether.

 

 

 

As a fan of Thuthuka Mthembu, a young and talented Uzalo performer known professionally as Nonka, I’m inclined to believe that something very similar is taking place with her as well.

Her position on the show pays her only R18 000 per month, according to Uzalo.

The pay she receives is insufficient to support her because of the manner she must alter the living conditions of her family while maintaining a high-profile lifestyle. As soon as I realized how little this well-known brand actually produces, I was taken aback.
