The nominees were announced today and this year’s theme is dubbed “Turn Up the Love”. The awards celebrate queerness, love, inclusivity, diversity, and they are also dedicated to members of the LGBTQI community.

The awards are usually a big and colourful affair which sees celebs coming out in their numbers to attend the awards for a night filled with glitz and glamour. This year they will be hosted on November 11, 2020. Makhadzi and Master KG are nominated against each other in the Musician Of The Year category. Also part of the nominations list are Mzansi’s power couple Nomsa Buthelezi and her bae Zandile Buthelezi, who is nominated in the Cutest Couple Of The Year, Olwee and Mamkhize are nominated in the Socialite Of The Year category and Gomora’s star Siphesihle Ndababagged a nod for the Hottest Chick Of The Year.

The Limpopo artists have recently snubbed nominations at the prestigious South African Music Awards. The awards were hosted recently but they received major backlash on social media from the masses, accusing them of allegedly being tribalism.Makhadzi expressed her disappointment on not being nominated and further congratulated everyone who’s been nominated.

“Congratulations to all SAMAs nominees..so said for not being recognized after what matorokisi did to AFRICANS last year..to all my fans I submitted everything is just that ndinga ndoneta tshinyama.. Your love and support matter.”

Makhadzi and Master KG recently called it quits after being in a public relationship for quite some time. The couple announced their breakup on social media. Speaking with ZAlebs recently Makhadzi revealed that she worked with the Jerusalema hitmaker on her album.

“It’s always a good thing to work with him because when me and him collaborate it’s all about talent. He has his own talent and I have mine and we understand each other and everything we touch becomes a hit, and he’s the only producer whom I feel like we understand each other.”
Makhadzi who chose not to speak about what led to their breakup said, she wishes people did not know about their relationship because she is very private.

“The only thing I also want and I wish could happen just that it didn’t happen the way I wanted, I only want people to know Makhazi for her performances and music besides my personal issues but because people already knew about my relationship there was nothing I can do but my wish is for them to know about my music only.”
Congratulations guys!

Reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi returns to South Africa next week to judge the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant

The all-female judging line-up includes some of the country’s most respected and influential personalities with Tunzi being joined by Peggy-Sue Khumalo, Anele Mdoda and Leandie du Randt. A fifth judge is still to be revealed.

Miss South Africa 2020 will be cr

So what will she be looking for in a potential Miss South Africa: “There are different aspects to look out for, but I am mostly looking for someone with raw authenticity and sincerity about who they are. I am not looking for perfection or moral purity. Someone who has a voice and an aura about her that makes almost everyone feel at ease when they come in contact with her because she will be engaging with a lot of people in the year.

“My advice to the finalists ahead of the night is that when they hit the stage, they must not be too much in their heads. They have done an incredible job in the past few months, in and outside of their interviews. They have been the best representation of themselves. Half of the handwork is done. The final night is for them to be proud, to celebrate their achievement and to have fun.

“To the winner of Miss South Africa. You are going to create the most beautiful memories and touch a lot of lives. Never take that lightly or for granted; it is a blessing. There are some times when things will get really hard, and when that happens, I want you to remember why you started. It will get you through the craziest days. But most of all, live in the moment and enjoy it fully because time passes by so quickly. Good luck, you are going to be incredible.”

Multi-award-winning, radio and TV presenter Anele Mdoda was one of the judges in 2014 when Rolene Strauss went on to win Miss World and again last year when Zozibini Tunzi took the Miss Universe crown. Does she believe that the pageant and beauty contests have changed significantly in this time?

“I think they have changed and they have stayed the same. The premise is we are still in a BEAUTY pageant and for me that has always come in many shapes and forms. What has changed is that for a long time we relied on the international tone to tell us what beautiful is and now we are saying these are our standards of beauty and we can’t be dictated to.”

Why does she believe that South Africans, in general, are so positive towards the competition? “Because South Africans love a person who backs themselves and I believe that when a lady says I am entering Miss SA, she has gone through many stages of self-doubt and being apprehensive. But along the line the self-belief has to kick in and I think as South Africans we look forward to the results of them standing in that power.”

What will she be looking for in the new Miss South Africa? “Same thing I look for every year. Someone who comes in with their own blueprints of what beauty is and takes us on their journey. We are merely facilitators in someone’s journey. You have to make me believe your plan.”

Her advice for the Top 10: “Presence and intent. Be present in every moment, it goes by so quickly and whether you win or not, you miss the process when it’s done. Every action you take, every answer you reply to, every time you grace the stage or a judging session, a moment with the media, always ask yourself what is your intention. When you are clear about your intentions, things go really easier for you. Lastly the winner has big shoes to fill.

She must bring her own shoes!”

Nonhlanhla Peggy-Sue Khumalo is the current Chief Executive of Standard Bank Wealth, South Africa. Prior to joining the Standard Bank Group, she spent over 17 years with Investec Group. As a previous Miss South Africa title holder (1996) she has plenty of wisdom for this year’s Top 10.

“I am inspired by the successes of the Miss South Africa platform which provided a great opportunity for me to empower myself and propelled me to break barriers.”

owned at The Table Bay hotel in an entertainment-packed event on Saturday, October 24, from 17h00. The event will be screened live on M-Net and Mzansi Magic and will also be streamed online.

For Tunzi it seems surreal: “I was a contestant on stage just a year ago and was in awe of the women on the judging panel.”

Tunzi went on to take the Miss South Africa crown before winning Miss Universe: “I know what it is like first hand to be in the job that these incredible women are applying for. I am excited to see how that experience will be of help in the judging panel. One woman’s life is about to change and I am a part of a panel that will make that happen. I am nervous but mostly humbled and excited by it.”

Why Qhabanga And Gabisile Are Leaving Uzalo

Why Qhabanga And Gabisile Are Leaving Uzalo

Recently, it has been reported that Siyabonga Shibe and Baby Cele who play the role of Qhabanga and Gabisile on Uzalo respectvely were leaving the show.

Phil Mphela, an entertainment news guru, confirmed that Siyabonga Shibe would be saying goodbye to Uzalo but said Baby Cele, was not going to leave permanently but take a break.
Uzalo’s host channel, SABC1 confirmed the departure of the actors.

“Baby Cele and Siyabonga Shibe will indeed be leaving the show by the end of season six of Uzalo. The story has taken this direction and will give us a riveting, high-stakes ending for both characters. The decision was made in consultation with the two actors. Both have given a tremendous amount to their roles on Uzalo and we are forever grateful for that. We will be introducing a host of new characters played by South Africa’s best. Please stay tuned and see as the story unfolds.”

It appears Baby Cele will be involved in the upcoming film , Red Cargo, which is expected to be released in 2021 hence she took a break from Uzalo as filming schedules might clash. The film has a lot of local actors including Menzi Ngubane, Matseke-Zulu, Luthuli Dlamini.

It’s not clear why Siyabonga Shibe is exiting the show as sometime in July, there were rumors that he had been axed from Uzalo after having a salary raise a dispute with the producers.

However he denied the claims saying:

“I want to put it on record that me and my producers are in a good space and there were never any fights for whatever reason. I repeat I have never fought with anyone and I have not been booted out as some reporting claim.”

Rasta painted a portrait of Morning Live presenter, Leanne Manas and South Africa is not impressed.

He’s painted some of South Africa’s most iconic figures with varying degrees of accuracy, and now popular artist Lebani “Rasta” Sirenje has returned with a portrait of Leanne Manas, who celebrated her 46th birthday on Wednesday 14 October.

After he was applauded for his attempt to portray the late Andrew Mlangeni in July, it would appear that Rasta has let his form dip once again, with his impression of Manas leaving the television presenter grateful if not entirely bemused.

‘WHO’S THAT LADY?’ MANAS THANKS RASTA FOR BIRTHDAY PRESENT
Twitter has been quick to judge Rasta on his latest effort, with some asking whether or not it is possible to sue him for failing so abysmally. Others have been more constructive and kind, suggesting that Rasta either “get some rest” or take a deep breath, before trying again.

Manas thanked him for the kind gesture though, although she wasn’t 100% sure who he was trying to paint.

“Thank you so much Rasta – I really enjoyed my birthday!” she said. “Who’s the lady in the picture? She’s got a very…. unique look.”

Twitter user were less gracious:
