A South African grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday this past weekend.

As part of the celebration, pictures were uploaded to social media of Gogo sitting with her birthday cake.

Tension is rising in South Af4ica as millions of people respond to the brutal killing of populare actor Thandeka Mdeliswa. The killing, which comes after a month of celebrating women in South Africa, is allegedly associated with gender based violence.

Police in Mpumalanga are searching for a suspect who “blatantly shot and killed” actress Thandeka Mdeliswa at her home on Evander on Thursday.

The actress, who is best known for her lead role in SABC’s isiNdebele language drama series iKani, was killed in a “heinous incident associated with Gender-Based-Violence”, police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said, echoing a statement issued by the actress’s family earlier on Sunday.

According to police information, the victim heard a commotion between her brother and two men.

“She then went out to investigate the problem whereupon getting closer one of the men fatally shot her.

“The two men fled the scene and police as well as medical personnel were immediately summoned, police managed to trace the suspects however, the shooter ran away hence the manhunt,” Hlathi said.

The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma indicated that it is despicable to learn that men continue to inflict pain on women daily. “We cannot allow such unexplainable actions to go unpunished hence we are making a clarion call to the public to assist in locating the killer. He has robbed the family and the country of a young life and talent respectively,” said General Zuma.

Police called on anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to call Captain Patrick Malepe at 0820651299.

In a statement on Sunday the family said: “It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing on of our dearest daughter.

“She was shot in Evander, Mpumalanga on Thursday 3 September 2020. She was immediately rushed to Evander hospital, stabilised then airlifted to Witbank after which she was transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital (Pretoria) as her condition was critical but stable. She passed on in the morning of the 5th September 2020 (Saturday).”

The family described the 27-year-old as “a young, talented and inspirational actress which her family and community were looking to see flourish”.

“The brutality which was inflicted on our daughter has left us deeply hurt. This is another incident of violence against women (Gender Based Violence) which our country has to fight against. We believe that justice will be served,” the statement said.

The family requested privacy and a chance to grieve but said that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

Zodwa’s boyfriend seems to be based in Johannesburg, because she recently visited Jo’burg and they spent some quality time together.

The controversial entertainer recently broke up with her ex-boyfriend Vusi Buthelezi. Zodwa took to Instagram in a fiery video accusing Vusi of being a fraudster. Zodwa claimed that Vusi had purchased his Audi R8 using her name and contacts presenting himself as her lover, however, they had broken up at the time.

“You slept at my house for a year… for you to go to Audi and use my name because you knew during the Durban July I was going to be driven by Audi,” she said in the video.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Phana Mzimela who is the sales manager for Audi Centre, refuted claims that Vusi had purchased the luxurious car.

“Vusi is not our client. He never bought the car, he never signed any documents with us. Everything including the pictures and videos that he took was staged. He did this with the help of our sales representative. They even used delivery pictures to make the whole thing legit. Vusi later posted these on his Instagram account. We don’t know how did he do all of this. Our stance on this matter is that Vusi never bought the Audi R8 and we have no contract with him. We are following internal processes to deal with the salesman,” Phana told the publication.

Zodwa recently set tongues wagging after she posted a video of her latest having a vaginal tightening procedure. The star stated that she is hard at work because she needs a new lover.

“I’m here again because I ended another relationship so I need a new relationship,” said Zodwa.

Mihlali recently told men that they do not own women’s bodies, after she was called a hoe for going on dates with several men.

“Basically what I am saying you could be having dinners with someone else, dinners with someone else the following week. It has nothing to do with sexual relations, it’s just being single and mingling. Socializing, especially if you are someone who is getting to know people, meeting new people… Men need to stop policing women’s bodies and what they do, it has nothing to do with you.” she said in a video.

The video caused quiet a stir on social media, with many dragging her, however she defended herself in a couple of tweets. Mihlali told them off and several women supported her.

Media personality Pearl Modiadie has announced that the new season of the popular reality show It Takes A Village will premier in September. The show which tackles Mzansi’s social ills has returned for the third season and this time it features the radio presenter.

It Takes A Village, with Pearl Modiadie will air on SABC 1, September 30 and will give viewers an insight on the radio presenter’s upbringing. Pearl hails all the way from a village in Tembisa so the show will be centered around that.

Not divulging too much about the show, Pearl simply shared on social media that the show will be very personal as the star will be leaving ‘no stone unturned.’

The reality show is seeking to help young people deal with their family dynamics and help make them stronger.

This show comes at a time when the young talented woman is expecting her first born child. 

She has decided to keep her pregnancy guarded whilst throwing jabs here and there to critics. The only update her followers got about her pregnancy are that her bundle of joy is growing pretty well.
