The River is a South African television soap opera created by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon. It is an M-Net original production produced by Tshedza Pictures for DStv‘s general entertainment subscription channel 1Magic and is available for streaming on Naspers‘ subscription-based video-on-demand service Showmax. The River is set in Pretoria and follows the lives of the Dlaminis and the Mokoenas, two families from different backgrounds that are brought together and divided by the discovery of a diamond in Cullinan, just a stone’s throw away from Pretoria.

Gauteng health, Dr Zingelwa open criminal case against ‘Dr Matthews Lani’

The Department of Health in Gauteng has opened a criminal case against “Dr Matthew Lani”, who claimed to be a medical doctor and gave out medical advice via TikTok.DR MATHEWS LANI’: CHARGED
The Gauteng Department of Health and DR Sanele Zingelwa have opened cases against TikToker “Dr Matthew Lani”.


 

The department released a statement which read: “Lani managed to weave his way into the system pretending to be in the employ of Helen Joseph Hospital where he moved around the hospital corridors curating content for social media.”

“Further investigations have revealed that Dr Sanele Zingelwa, the name which the Lani claims is his real name belongs to a second-year medical intern at Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital. The real Dr Sanele Sobani Vambani Zingelwa has since opened a case of identity fraud at the Tembisa Police Station.”

The department also confirmed that they worked with Matthew on 16 June 2022 on a campaign across its facilities as part of Youth Month commemorations.

The department’s statement follows HPCSA‘s statement which stated that his name does not appear in their register of health practitioner’s.

“The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has noted with concern, a video of Mr Mathews Zingelwa-Lani which has gone viral on social media platforms. In the widely circulated video, Mr Mathews Zingelwa-Lani claims to have been authorised by the HPCSA to make and distribute his video.”

“The HPCSA would like to put it on record that no authorisation has been granted to Mr Mathews Zingelwa-Lani to make statements on behalf our Council stating that he’s a registered practitioner.”

‘June is still in mourning’: Reeva family advocate reacts to Oscar Pistorius news

While the family of Reeva Steenkamp have “expected” the news of Oscar Pistorius’s parole application, it comes as a bitter pill for the late model’s mother, June.

This, after she laid to rest her husband Barry – Reeva’s father – last month.

On Monday, 9 October, the Constitutional Court confirmed Pistorius’s claims that he has been eligible for parole since March 2023.

 

 

The announcement was made via the Department of Correctional Services (DCS).

REEVA’S MOM STILL MOURNING AMID OSCAR PISTORIUS NEWS
Speaking to The South African, Reeva Steenkamp family advocate Tania Koen reacted to the ConCourt ruling.

She said: “We didnt oppose as we were of the view that Oscar Pistorius was eligible to be considered earlier this year. So the decision was expected”.

Koen added the news would likely be difficult to digest for Reeva’s mother, who had recently lost her husband, Barry.

‘THREAT TO SOCIETY’
In July, Reeva Steenkamp’s mother appeared on an episode of Australia’s Insights actuality series titled “Seeking Justice”.

In it, June discussed how Oscar Pistorius “refused” to see her when she attempted to confront him over what transpired a decade ago.

She also claimed that Oscar is not deserving of an early release.

She said: “I feel that he is not rehabilitated. His problem is his temper. He might hurt someone else if he comes out”.

So, towards the end he said ‘mom, I really want you to just limit’, he didn’t say take it away, he said limit the time that you expose her on social media and even in public,” she continued.
