The late rapper and dancer Costa Titch had expressed mixed feelings about local rappers who ventured into genres outside of hip hop.
He took to Instagram and threw shade at someone many presumed to be the “Destiny” hitmaker, Cassper Nyovest, who had been criticized for delving into amapiano. Titch also targeted AKA, who is Nyovest’s rival, and said that South African hip hop was uniting, and those who had switched genres should stay there and let them fix what they had broken.
Nyovest caught wind of the jab Titch threw at him, and a fan later asked him to make two more hip hop tracks. Nyovest responded by saying that hip hop apparently did not need him and that Titch was fixing what he had destroyed. Nyovest further stated that he was back in South Africa and could not wait to run into Titch to hear his explanation in person.who
Nyovest had previously faced online controversy when Boohle, who collaborated with him on the hit song “Siyathandana,” claimed that he had only written his verse. During an appearance on the Channel O show “Podcast and Chill: Celebrity Edition,” Boohle talked about the composition of her hit song with Nyovest and said that he had only written his verse. Responding to her comments on Twitter, Nyovest expressed disappointment and declined to elaborate on how the song was written, but wished her well and hoped that she would continue to make hits.
