Viewers of the Moja Love drug-busting show, Sizok’thola, have criticised the channel for terminating its relationship with the show’s presenter, Xolani Khumalo.

MOJA LOVE DUMPS XOLANI KHUMALO
On Friday, 3 November, the DStv channel said it had parted ways with Khumalo, although not stating why.

“Moja Love TV Channels has terminated its relationship with Mr Xolani Khumalo, presenter of one of the Channel’s leading shows, Sizok’thola. The channel will not be commenting on any matters relating to Mr Khumalo at this stage,” the statement reads.Khumalo is facing murder charges following the death of alleged drug dealer, Robert “Kicks” Varrie, who was the subject of a drug bust in Katlehong on 19 July.

According to his family, Varrie died after he was interrogated and assaulted by Khumalo and crew.

In September, Khumalo handed himself over to the Katlehong North Police Station where he was charged with murder and later granted R20 000 bail.

On 19 October, he made his second appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court where the matter was postponed to 21 November pending the Director of Public Prosecution’s decision on whether it should be transfered to a High Court for trial, EWN reported at the time.ANGRY ‘SIZOK’THOLA’ VIEWERS LAMBASTE CHANNEL
Moja Love has been slammed for its decision to cut ties with Khumalo. The channel was criticised further for sustaining its various relationships with other presenters i.e Jub Jub, Bishop Israel Makamu and Siyacela Dlamuka.JUB JUB, BISHOP MAKAMU AND SIYACELA DLAMUKA
Jub Jub, who hosts Moja Love’s most-watched show Uyajola 9/9, is currently in and out of court on 13 counts ranging from multiple counts of rape, indecent assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and several counts of kidnapping. The charges were brought forward by his cousin and three of his ex-girlfriends, Masechaba Khumalo, Kelly Khumalo and Amanda du-Pont. He is expected back in court on 8 November.

In 2010, the Ndikhokhele rapper caused a car crash which claimed the lives of four children and left two brain damaged. He was sentenced to 25 years behind bars in 2012 and released on parole in January 2017.

Makamu, the founder of Endless Hope Bible Church in Alberton and host of Rea Tsotella, was arrested in May 2021 after a former employee of his church laid a complaint of sexual assault. IOL reported in August that year that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) withdrew the charges.

In January this year, Moja Love came under fire following the airing of an episode about a gender-based violence (GBV) incident on reality series Isencane Lengane wherein the show’s star Thando accused her husband Siyacela Dlamuka of assault. At the time, the channel has since released a statement saying it “does not condone or support GBV”.
