News of the Loliwe hitmaker’s passing came after her family confirmed that she had been hospitalized for a week due to physical pains.

Zahara’s condition worsened and the singer was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) last week, and passed away on Monday, 11 December.

There’s an air of sadness in Zahara’s hometown where she started singing in her school and church choir from the tender age of 6-years old.

The community of Phumlani, Eastern Cape remembers Zahara for her natural talent, kindness and for never forgetting where she came from.

Despite making her home in Johannesburg, Zahara always maintained that she would always be a village girl.

“I’m a country girl. There’s one thing I love about me, I never wanted to be called only a dreamer, I wanted to be called an achiever. But, I’ll forever be a village girl. The soul will always be within me.”
