Entertainment reporter Phil Mphela claims that Nomvelo Makhanya, who plays Lindiwe Ngema on the e.tv soap opera Scandal!, is leaving the show.

Nomvelo Makhanya, an experienced actress, played Lindiwe Ngema, a popular character on Scandal! for ten seasons. The actress, according to IHarare, had always preferred sports like hockey and netball to acting before she joined the soap drama.

 

Her mother thought she would be successful as an actress and that she attend the National School of the Arts (NSA) in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. While in 10th grade at the NSA, a friend of hers highly suggested she try out for the role, and after she auditioned well, she was offered the part. She was first presented to e.tv viewers as Zinzile Ngema, played by Lingashoni actor Patrick Mofokeng, and Mlungisi Ngema’s daughter (played by eHostela actress Gcina Nkosi).

She married Nhlamulo, portrayed by Mathews Rantsoma, and is now a successful entrepreneur. Her story gained notoriety in January of this year when she and her husband had an extramarital affair after only a year of marriage.

Her father, Mlungisi Ngema, had returned to the show after an absence of almost a year when he was tragically killed by his wife’s husband, Nhlamulo. Nobody is surprised by Nomvelo Makhanya’s departure. Mzansi was baffled when it was reported that Nomvelo Makhanya, who plays Lindiwe on Scandal, was giving her on-screen character a goodbye kiss. She portrayed Lindiwe Ngema on screen for ten years before deciding to move on. She’s become overnight the Hollywood A-lister we all love to hate.

As expected, she remained in the spotlight even after her departure was announced. The people of South Africa, or Mzansi, are inquisitive about the reasons surrounding her sudden exit from the drama series. The bubbly is universally admired.

Many online sources claimed that her high profile profession was damaged by her relationship. There were speculations that she broke up with her partner because he found the closeness of her new scheme too much to handle. The actress, however, has not addressed the claims’ veracity as of yet. But because her departure was so widely reported, rumors have begun to fill in the details.
