Bongi Ntuli’s memorial service

As confirmed by the Durban club’s official statement, Ntuli died at the Midlands Medical Center Hospital in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday, 5 November.


 

 

The club confirmed that Ntuli died after an aggressive form of cancer that metastasised to take his life.

The Pietermaritzburg-born player passes away five months after he married Sinenjabulo “Sne” Zungu, who is the daughter of the club’s CEO, Sandile Zungu.

MEMORIAL SERVICE
Meanwhile, AmaZulu have bid farewell to Bongi Ntuli at a memorial service held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.

PLAYING CAREER
Before scoring 70 goals in 238 games, Ntuli’s career began at the lower division club Sabantu Shooting Stars in 2011 before moving to Golden Arrows’ reserve side.

He later became a DStv Premiership footballer at Golden Arrows, where he earned an early breakthrough to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014.

Ntuli’s Sundowns career only lasted one season before he was loaned to Platinum Stars and AmaZulu. Usuthu eventually signed the 1.8m tall attacker on a permanent deal in 2019.
