Boity Thulo is one of the media personalities who have made it clear that they firmly support the #MenAreTrash hashtag and narrative, despite facing backlash for her advocacy.Boity Thulo clarified her stance on the #MenAreTrash narrative in a series of tweets on Thursday, 11 June 2020. The Bakae artist started with a bold tweet addressing her concerns and gender-based violence, prompting backlash and opposing comments from male Twitter users.
The rapper felt so strongly about the matter that she took screenshots of the tweet to post on her Instagram page as well. In the tweet, she reiterated that men do not have ownership of women’s bodies, therefore, the attempt to police what they say or do is unsolicited.
Boity then followed the initial tweet with posts emphasising that she is not intimidated by the backlash. Fellow rapper, Moozlie, supported her and stated that she has had to block some of her followers who attacked her for expressing similar sentiments.
