South African DJ Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, popularly known as Black Coffee, is believed to be a billionaire in South African currency.

According to Reports, Black Coffee has a net worth of $60 million, which equates to R1.1 billion in rands. He is believed to be the second ranking of the wealthiest African musicians following Akon.

So, how did Black Coffee become a billionaire? The DJ ventured into the music industry in 1994. He was one of the backup singers for Madlala Kunene along with two of his school friends. The DJ studied at the then Technikon Natal, now known as Durban University of Technology (DUT), where he majored in Jazz Studies, according to Reports.

He formed an Afro-pop group called Simply Hot and Naturally African (SHANA) with Demor and Mnqobi which was signed to Melt in 2000. The DJ gained popularity after he participated in the 2004 Red Bull Music Academy. His first hit song was Happiness from the album DJs At Work. He later created Soul Music company in 2005.

Now, he has a total of nine studio albums. His starting fee for a show is now around R200 000 for a local show and around R2 million for an international gig.
