Bheki Cele says he received a report on AKA’s case from KZN SAPS

It looks like Police minister Bheki Cele is hands on regarding the case of Kiernan Forbes’ murder. This morning Cele said he recieved a report from the KZN SAPS officials yesterday, on the murder of the SA rapper Kiernan AKA Forbes. Cele says there’s progress pertaining the investigations. Although Cele did not disclose the report’s details, he made it look clear that the police are on to something regarding the case. Cele said this as he was visiting the Sophiatown police station following incidents of suspected gang violence in Westbury. AKA and his lifelong friend and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot dead at a popular restaurant in Durban’s Florida Road on February 10. They were both buried in private funerals at the weekend.

Days after AKA was gunned down, Cele had to clear the air on why he did not visit the scene of the murder, saying there was no need for him to go because he has been in contact with the rapper’s family. This was after he faced harsh criticism from the public. The minister was accused of not paying much attention to the case as he is allegedly very close to the late Anele Tembe’s father. Anele was engaged to marry AKA before she allegedly committed suicide. Her father has since publicly said he does not believe his child really committed suicide.

There have been no arrests for the murder case. This is not the first time Cele has announced progress in murder cases. He did the same with the late Senzo Meyiwa but till today, the case is not going anywhere. Even after Hillary Gardee was brutally murdered, Cele made all sorts of promises but nothing held water. Maybe the country needs a new police minister. It looks like Cele will go when the president reshuffles his Cabinet in a few days to come. We wait and see!

Speaking about the Westbury situation, Cele has ruled out the deployment of the SANDF but has promised more boots on the ground. In relation to the cabinet reshuffle on the cards, Cele says he’s not worried about being moved to a different portfolio. The police Minister says for now, he’s focusing on the job to fight crime.

Is minister Bheki Cele having an office? Where he can sit down and plan how to deal with this high level of crime, and stop moving around the country?
