Bheki Cele Break Silence On The Death Of Rapper AKA, Reveals Why He Didn’t Visit The Crime Scene

Bheki Cele, the police minister, explains his absence from AKA’s murder scene. The rapper, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were killed in Durban’s Florida Road more than a week ago.

Bheki claims that because he spoke with KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi on the phone that evening and received the information at 11 p.m., he didn’t need to go to the scene.

“We’re not really camera people. We frequently travel without our cameras. During the presentation of the quarterly crime statistics, he said, “Most places we go, communities invite us. There was no need to attend this one since we were already speaking on the phone with the provincial commissioner about the team he put together, led by Brig [Vela] Cele, one of the best we have, when we received the information at 11 p.m. He is a renowned investigator.

The police minister also disclosed that he spoke with AKA’s father, therefore there was no need.

“The family called me the following morning and asked me to perform a few things. When the post-mortem was concluded on Saturday at 6 o’clock, I was still talking to the family on the phone. I had a lengthy conversation with AKA’s father on Sunday. Why would I need to visit the crime scene when we have the family on board, and they are happy?

The chief of KZN police provided an update on the assassination of AKA probe.

“South Africans are aware that we are unable to go into great detail about the situations we are looking into, especially as the only parties who are intended to receive comments are the families of the deceased. We are unable to update them on the status of our investigations through the media. “No one has yet been taken into custody. However, we have spoken to a number of people in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal,” Mkhwanazi added.
