Anele Mdoda has won the praise of many South Africans after she revealed she had taken her domestic worker – or house manager, Flo – on a trip across Europe.
The 947 presenter is currently in Barcelona with Flo and her son Alakhe. The trio plans to embark on a luxury cruise around the continent.
The getaway comes months after the entertainer admonished a social media user for paying their live-in helper R2500 per month.
ANELE SPOILS FLO WITH DREAM TRIP
In pics posted on Twitter, Anele showed off her trip to Spain alongside her son Alakhe and their domestic help Flo.
The trio are in Barcelona, where they will soon embark on the luxury cruise liner Norwegian Prima. The ship will stop over in cities like Marseille, Ibiza, and Rome.
The radio and TV personality posted pics of Flo at various tourist spots, who beamed for the camera. In one pic, the woman dubbed “Alakhe’s favourite person” was seen waving the South African flag.
Needless to say, the presenter’s fans were impressed with her generosity.
“Wow, Anele, God bless you,” said one follower. Another added: “Flo is living her best life”.
But when one tweep commented that Flo was “lucky,” she clapped back: “Flo works very hard. There is no luck here”
PAYING HER DUES
In July, Anele slammed a job advertisement that offered R2500 for a live-in helper.
As of 1 March, the Department of Employment and Labour implemented a new rate of just over R25 or each ordinary hour worked as the country’s minimum wage.
The job ad – shared in a Facebook group called “I Know A Guy” – found its way onto Twitter.
It read:
“Looking for a stay-in helper for my eight-year-old daughter. Please, any recommendations?
“Salary: R2500. Age: 33-45”
Anele reacted to the ad, sharing her disdain for the person who posted it.
She tweeted: “Who is this 33-year-old that must earn R2500 a month? We have to come to terms with the fact that we can’t afford full-time nannies. This is evil”
