South African Traditional Attires.

South Africa is well known as the Rainbow nation because of its diversity of cultures and religion. It is a home to multiple cultures and traditions.

It has various dress styles representing people of different cultures. The clothing is what attracts most people of other countries. Most of these traditional attires also serve as an inspiration the Fashionistas of other regions.

South African Traditional Clothing

1. Xhosa Traditional attires

Xhosa people have a very complex and diverse clothing styles. What one wears symbolises that person social standing. Man in the community are considered as warriors, hunters; thus the animal skin is essential.

2. Zulu Traditional attires

In Zulu, what women wear is determined by the stage of life there in. They are known to be colourful and vibrant in their choice of dressing. The animal skin apron is the most popular of the culture.

3. Ndebele Traditional attires

In South Africa, the Ndebele are situated in Mpumalanga and some parts of the Limpopo province. They are famous for their amazing beads, as well as their designs with geometric patterns.

4. Sepedi Traditional attires

Pedi people are mostly found in the Limpopo Province. Their colors represent happiness, a trait which they value and consider important in everyday activities.

5. Venda Traditional attires

Venda people are significantly found in the far north of South Africa, precisely close to the Zimbabwean border. Their traditional clothing is unique and easy to identify. Ṅwenda and Sheḓo are the most popular in this culture.

6. Tsonga Traditional attires

Tsonga people are mostly found in South Africa. They are a Bantu ethnic group. The most popular clothing in this culture is the Xibelani, a colorful gathered skirt that shakes when dancing.

7. Tswana Traditional attires

Tswanas are a Bantu-speaking ethnic group. Their traditional style is a cotton fabric known as Leteisi and Shweshwe in Sotho. They are an amazing tribe with real cultural heritage.

8. Basotho Traditional attires

Their traditional print is usually styled as a heavy clothing. They are popular for wearing blankets. They make heavy clothing using blanket prints which they style in their preferences.

9. Swazi.

This culture have distinct features which makes it stand out from the others. The aspect making this ethnic group more famous if their South African dresses. Their beliefs and ceremonies makes them unique.
