Mduduzi Mabaso and his wife Fatima spent Valentine’s Day in style at the Radisson Hotel & Convention Centre Johannesburg, O.R. Tambo, which was just opened. The couple, who have been married for 12 years, started off as business partners. Fatima claims that their excellent communication and the fact that they are each other’s greatest friends have enabled them to celebrate Valentine’s Day every day.

Mduduzi is a well-known actor who has been in films such as Rhythm City and Hotel Rwanda. Who better to look after his best interests than his leading lady? Fatima is his manager. They work hard to keep their schedules in sync and enjoy traveling together. They were pampered, fed, and romanced over the course of the weekend.

“Wow, we were greeted with warm smiles and such pleasant staff from the moment we arrived at The Radisson OR Tambo, even behind the masks everyone was welcoming and friendly,” Fatima says. “Our getaway was nothing short of amazing, even though we were only a few minutes away from home- but they manage to totally create an incredible atmosphere of restoration and fun.”

The hotel is located on a secluded estate in Bredell, Kempton Park, outside of the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg.

It is conveniently located near major highways and is only an 8-minute drive from the O.R. Tambo International Airport. The hotel features a spa and wellness center, as well as various onsite restaurants ranging from casual to gourmet dining and an international convention center.

The pair had a treatment at the hotel’s Amani Spa after being surprised with strawberries and chocolate in their rose-petal-covered suite.

The Radisson O.R. Tambo’s Valentine’s Special includes a 30-minute couples back and shoulder massage that focuses on stress relief so that couples may relax in each other’s company over the weekend.

A vacation isn’t complete without a delicious meal. Fatima and Mduduzi chose to enjoy the exquisite English Breakfast Buffet by the pool as part of their two-night Valentine’s Experience. Mealtimes are often the only quality time spent together for many couples. What is the Mabaso’s recommendation? “We’ve managed to build our lives around each other, not the other way around,” Fatima explains.
