Basetsane Kumalo on Nelson Mandela

To celebrate the late former South African president Nelson Mandela on his 105th birthday, the gorgeous former Miss South Africa Basetsana Kumalo shared a series of throwback photos with him that left her social media followers scratching their heads.

Miss South Africa 1994 Basetsana Kumalo was afforded the opportunity to rub shoulders with several prominent people during and even after her reign in the national beauty pageant competition – one of which, was global icon, the late former South African president Nelson Mandela.

Mandela’s birthday this year also marked ten years since he died. And, to pay tribute to him on Tuesday, Kumalo penned a heartfelt post and shared a few photos with the late former president.
On her feed, she jotted down just a couple of things that she missed most about Mandela.

“Your spirit lives on in many of us, generations upon generations. It’s been 10 years since your passing Tata. We still miss you. Your courageous leadership, your magnanimous presence, the grace of your humility, your forthrightness, [your] spirit of resoluteness, [and] even your hugs,” she wrote.

“We are better off as a people, a nation, a continent, and indeed the world that you once lived. Happy heavenly birthday. Long live the spirit of Madiba long live! ✊ Frame 5,6 & 7 was when you graced our humble home with your great presence and I could cook for you. Indelible memories. 🙏🏽,” Kumalo added.Basetsana Kumalo celebrated the late Nelson Mandela on his 105th birthday. Image via Instagram @basetsanakumalo
