Revered and highly successful business woman Basetsana Kumalo had dragged author Jackie Phamotse back in court.
Kumalo has in the past accused Phamotse of defamation and the latter has always reiterated that she is not guilty.
The court appearance comes just as Phamotse is gearing up to release her tenth book on the trot.
According to EWN, senior prosecutor Yusuf Baba has wrapped up his cross-examination of Jackie, and the matter is ready for closing arguments.
The defamation lawsuit has dragged on for a couple of years and many South Africans have seemingly forgotten how we got here in the first place.
Phamotse’s career as an author hinges on this trial.
The case has reportedly been postponed to 20 June for closing arguments because Phamotse’s lawyers told the court they need time to read the transcripts.
According to the Citizen newspaper, the trial has dragged on for a while and a verdict is set to be reached before the end of July.
In July 2010, Randburg Magistrates Court granted the Kumalos a protection order against Phamotse after it found that her tweet about “a media mogul” and her husband allegedly being involved in a gay sex tape resulted in speculation that the couple in question was the Kumalos.
