Banyana coach talks about special feeling after being honoured by president Ramaphosa

Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has achieved more as a player than as a coach.

She has managed claiming her throne among the best female coaches in the coach and she only achieved so little as a player.

President Cyril Ramaphosa recently honoured her with the Order of Ikhamanga in gold for her contribution to sport.

She recently guided South Africa to Caf glory when the team won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

She also achieved the feat of guiding Banyana Banyana to the FIFA Women’s World Cup which is set to take place later this year.

“I am very overwhelmed. This feels like getting a knighthood. I am very grateful. I am very blessed to be able to receive it and even more blessed that for the first time at any event my mother has been able to come with me. This is very special,” said Ellis.

She is one of the most inspiring women in the country whose used sport as a way of empowering her life as well as that of other women.
