Gqom’ queen Babes Wodumo – real name Bongekile Simelane – has reportedly moved back in with her parents who are nursing her back to health after hospitalisation.
This comes after IsiZulu newspaper Isolezwe reported last month that the musician was critically ill.
“Babes is fine, she is now gearing herself up for the festive, she wants to be 100% ready for the festive season,” a source told the outlet.
Sources who spoke to Isolezwe claimed that Babes was severely ill and suffered from shortness of breath. Another source told the newspaper that her husband Mampitsha’s death had taken its toll on her.
The Big Nuz group member passed away on 24 December after suffering a mini stroke. The couple has one child together, a 2-year-old baby boy named Hlelolenkosi “Sponge” Maphumulo.
CONFLICTING REPORTS ON BABES WODUMO’S HEALTH
While fans have been worried about the singer, her sister and manager, Nondumiso Simelane, has maintained she is in good health.
She told Isolezwe the star missed the Durban events in July because she had been peforming outside of the country.
“We missed the event because of our return flight back home, but we communicated this to the organisers of both events and they understood the situation.
“[Babes Wodumo] is in great health. Maybe her silence on social media is why they are assuming she is not well. She is currently busy with two albums, her own and Mampintshas,” Nondumiso said.
“Her sister knows her condition that she is not fit enough to perform but still signs her up and causes her more stress and brand damage,” a source revealed.
Babes Wodumo is also set to release her new album soon. She will also be releasing Mampintsha’s album he worked on before his death.
