Ayanda Thabethe’s grateful to be able to escape to her holiday home but not everyone’s happy for her

TV presenter and media personality Ayanda Thabethe was the talk of the (Twitter) streets on Thursday night. This after a tweet of hers left many with differing views on privilege.

The star tweeted that she was grateful to have the privilege of escaping the current madness to a holiday home.

“Figuring how to get food to my family is what is weighing so heavily on my heart. I’m going to need to do this till things are okay and who knows how long that will take,” her now deleted tweet read.

Reacting to the tweet, many felt that she was tone deaf and came across as show-off.

This as the country tries to restore calm, law and order following days of looting and unrest that has taken over KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng provinces following the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma last week.

Many called Ayanda out for what they labelled an insensitive timing.
