The song of the year on Ukhozi FM always faces a backlash when it’s chosen, probably that’s because people aren’t the same and have a different taste in music. The top 10 of 2021 included the biggest names in the South African music industry, that included Big Zulu who was the biggest winner at the Hip Hop Awards. Zakes Bantwini, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza the Small generally those are the biggest names in the amapiano genre.

 

 

 

 
However when the countdown began it was amazing that some of these artist didn’t even make it to the top 2. To people’s demise the unexpected won and their song became the crossover song , which automatically makes it the song of the year. DJ Hlo’s song Isibani topped the charts.

This caused a frenzy on social media where people asked who DJ Hlo was. It seems people aren’t over it as they are making claims that the DJ slept her way to win. However some artist are coming at the DJ’s defence, gospel singer Ayanda Ntanzi posted on his social media page that the article was very low.

Ukhozi FM revealed that DJ Hlo had over 200000 votes making her the winner. Probably the people complaining didn’t vote. The song was voted for by the people who like it and probably Dj Hlo campaigned for her win. Either way the public should accept and move on, Dj Hlo won and her song is the crossover song of Ukhozi FM.
