Speaking in an interview with 702’s Relebogile Mabotja, Bontle expressed the deep sense of responsibility she felt, believing that she could have prevented her father’s suicide.

Recalling the heart-wrenching moments leading up to the tragedy, Bontle revealed that she was the last person to see her father alive. In the early hours of the morning, she noticed unusual items with him, including a rope, prompting her to question his actions. Despite his reassurances of love, Bontle now reflects on that moment, wondering if she could have intervened.“I think I’d seen him on his way to do it. I woke up to go and see what my father was doing, and he had stuff with him. He had a rope; he had stuff. It was in the wee hours of the morning, and I didn’t think anything of it,” she shared.

Additionally, Bontle revealed that she had dreamt about her father’s passing before it occurred, a premonition she had shared with her mother. This haunting dream added to her sense of guilt, as she believed she could have somehow altered the course of events. For a very long time, I blamed myself for my dad’s death, I really did… I felt if I hadn’t dreamt about it…he wouldn’t have done it,” she expressed during the interview.

Social media responses to Bontle’s heartfelt revelation have been supportive, with many urging her to forgive herself. Others empathized with the complexity of such situations, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and support.
