Rhythm City actress Nolo Phiri is the producer, and Scandal actress Nolwazi Ngubeni is the casting director of Umkhokha: The Curse.

She plays every role she gets with the passion it deserves.

It was no different when it came to Nolwazi Shange’s short yet impactful time on the local modern-day Western series Outlaws.

Cast as the strong-willed matriarch of the cattle-farming Biyela family, Nolwazi’s character Nandi Biyela is described as the warmth of the household and community at large.

The 39-year-old actress and digital marketer’s time was cut short at the beginning of the season with Nandi and her husband Bheki Biyela (played by Siyabonga Shibe) gunned down by the cattle-raiding Ts’eole clan. While Nolwazi’s time on the show was short, her character’s presence is felt in her children Bandile and Sihle Biyela’s (played by Thembinkosi Mthembu and Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, respectively) efforts to avenge their parents’ deaths.

Catching up with TRUELOVE, Nolwazi couldn’t believe she’s at the point of her South African Film and Television Award-winning career where she plays the mother figure.

“First of all, how on earth did I get here, when did I start playing someone’s mother? … But also, I keep watching my growth. The type of roles that I could play when I was younger and the roles that I play now I think it also just speaks to my own personal growth in my own personal life. It’s such a natural trajectory that we go through as humans.“And I don’t know, I feel like often as women we shy away from it. We shy away from growing older, and we don’t want to accept that knowing that is who we are. Our bodies change, our languages change, our outlook on life has changed and it’s such a beautiful thing.”

Sharing her thoughts on her character, Nolwazi explains, “She’s the person who binds the family together. As much as the dad is involved in the business, the family business, she’s made the home her business. But she also has a certain level of badassery that I absolutely love.”

Outlaws is the show that marked Nolwazi’s Showmax debut. She says that it is the story that hooks her into bringing a character to life.

“Story is definitely what attracts me first, but I’m also interested in telling the story. Who’s around in what world, who’s working on it, but I think story is what definitely compels me. Characters as well, they’re also what excites me. I don’t know, for me, it’s a feeling beyond anything else.

Lamiez Holworthy gushes over her son; she can’t wait to celebrate her son’s first Christmas

A large Christmas tree with gifts under it. The smell of delicious roasts and baked goods and the sound of children running and laughing as they chase each other around the house.

If definitely feels a lot like Christmas in the Morule household as rapper Khuli Chana and his wife DJ Lamiez Holworthy host their families to celebrate Christmas together, as a unit.

Anyone who works in the entertainment industry can confirm that this is the busiest time of the year for artists because they have gigs one after the other.

But no matter how busy they are, Khuli and Lamiez say Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are off limits.“We both work extremely hard, but we have made it our family tradition to put everything on hold for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so that we can focus on our loved ones. Then we go back to work on the 26th,” she says.

The celebrity couple reluctantly shares that they do not cook, but Lamiez insists that she makes a mean chicken curry.

“My mom and aunts cook. I just make sure everyone has everything they need and they are all comfortable.”“I am even learning how to braai now, because I want my son to enjoy meat that I have made. This Christmas is particularly special for our family because it is our son’s first Christmas.

“This time of year is great because our moms are busy cooking in the kitchen cooking, and we are like kids again and we’re relaxing and enjoying the food.”

The family also enjoys watching Christmas movies together and introducing all the kids to the classics the couple grew up watching.“Home Alone is definitely on the list of movies. The kids are also starting to like Matilda. We also watch movies like Little Rascals. We watch all the Christmas movies that are on the different streaming platforms, and we just have a movie marathon.”

Having grown up or being raised differently, it is important for them to start their traditions.

“We did things a certain way at home when I was kid, Lamiez also grew up doing certain things and now as a family we are starting our own traditions. I think it is okay to borrow this and that from what the parents did, but we are doing things our way. Our home, our rules,” he says.

Lamiez is not shy to admit that she had a crush on Khuli when she was a schoolgirl.

AKA’s Mom, Lynn Forbes Speaks About Late Son’s Will

When tragedy strikes, it not only leaves a void in our hearts but also raises questions about what happens next. The demise of AKA, the South African music industry’s beloved rapper, has not only stirred profound emotions but has also given rise to a prevailing sense of uncertainty surrounding the fate of his brand.

Who will take charge of managing his projects and overseeing the entirety of his brand? AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, recently opened up about the situation, shedding light on the plans moving forward.

In an interview, Lynn Forbes revealed that they had been working with ZazyBoy, a trusted collaborator, for the AKA brand. However, they had to put things on hold due to a significant factor – AKA’s will.

It appears that the rapper had left behind clear instructions on how he wanted his brand to be handled. “There’s a will, there’s an executive, there’s all that stuff that had to be sorted out first,” Lynn Forbes explained.

With the executive responsibilities now within the family, Lynn Forbes expressed openness to working with ZazyBoy once again. It seems that they are keen to reignite the collaborations that were in progress before the unfortunate event.

Lynn Forbes mentioned specific brands, such as Cruz and Reebok, with whom AKA had established connections.

She expressed her desire to restart conversations and explore new possibilities. “Maybe we can have another conversation with Cruz. I wanna kinda go back, maybe we should be a new something with Reebok,” she said.

It’s heartening to see that the family is determined to honor AKA’s passions and continue his legacy. Lynn Forbes emphasized their efforts to rebuild relationships and revive projects that held personal significance to AKA. The year 2024 seems to be the target for the restart of many things, a symbolic new beginning for the brand.

While the future may seem uncertain, there is a sense of optimism in Lynn Forbes’ words. The rapper’s brand will continue to thrive, guided by the vision he had set forth. It’s a testament to his foresight and the love and support of his family that they are dedicated to carrying his legacy forward.

AKA’s impact on the South African music industry cannot be understated. His music resonated with fans across the nation, and his brand became synonymous with excellence and creativity. It is only fitting that his family takes charge of preserving and expanding his legacy.

As fans, we can look forward to the revival of projects and collaborations that AKA held dear. The AKA brand will continue to evolve, with the family at the helm, ensuring that his vision and values remain at the core.

It’s a bittersweet reminder that even in the face of tragedy, the power of music and the strength of family can prevail.

AKA’s legacy will live on, not only through his music but also through the brand that he built. The future may be uncertain, but one thing is for sure – the rapper’s spirit will continue to inspire and resonate with generations to come
