Lerato Nxumalo was born on February 9th, 1999. She grew up in Durban, South Africa’s KwaZulu Natal Province, in the KwaMashu district. Lerato has eight siblings, seven girls and one boy, from her stepmother.
Despite the fact that her parents are Zulus, she was given a Sotho name by her late grandmother, her father’s mother. When her mother was unable to give Nompumelelo the name she had chosen, she gave it to Lerato’s younger sister.
Lerato attended Northland Girls High in Durban.
