Zenani Mandela’s Children and Divorce From Husband Prince Thumbumuzi

Zenani Mandela, the daughter of Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s first democratic president, and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, was married to Prince Thumbumuzi of Swaziland for close to twenty-five years. During that time, they had three children together: Zinani, Zinani, and Zinani. The diplomat came from a family of chieftains; yet, she did not have an easy childhood due to the fact that her father was imprisoned when she was only three years old and condemned to 27 years in jail. Zenani Mandela did not have the love and care of a father when she was growing up; she would later find this in the arms of Prince Thumbumuzi, with whom she would go on to have four children over the course of her extended marriage.

The wedding received a lot of attention, leading many people to believe that the couple’s marriage would be one of those that would last forever. However, this did not turn out to be the case. Unfortunately, as time went on, their love for one another waned, and they ended up divorcing in the early 2000s. Despite the fact that they are no longer together, both parents continue to show their support for their children and maintain a strong contact with them.

At the age of fourteen, Zenani Mandela married Prince Thumbumuzi. Their vows were exchanged.

When Zenani was ready to give birth to her first child in jail in 1959, her mother, Winnie Mandela, was incarcerated at the time. Zenani was scared that her mother would be taken away from her. In the early months of 1959, Princess Zenani was born only a few short weeks after her mother was released from jail. Because of her work as an advocate, Winnie spent time behind bars as a result of the apartheid government. Zenani had a challenging childhood as a result of her family’s frequent relocations as a result of her mother’s expulsion from certain areas, and she later moved to Swaziland to finish her secondary education after her family relocated there. Zenani’s mother was expelled from certain areas because of her behavior.

She had the opportunity to speak with Swaziland’s Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini when she was on tour. His father is King Sobhuza II of Swaziland, and his mother is Mbhono Shongwe, also from Swaziland. His younger brother Mswati III is the current monarch of Swaziland and is also his namesake. Later on, Zenani Mandela gave her consent for the Prince to marry her, and the couple tied the knot in 1973, when Zenani was just 14 years old and her husband was 24. Since Nelson Mandela was incarcerated at the time, he did not make it to his daughter’s wedding, despite the fact that he was notified about it.

In 1987, Zenani Mandela and her husband were awarded a full scholarship to study at Boston University. This was made possible by the generosity of a family friend named Robert Brown, who was a businessman from North Carolina. Brown had met the Mandela family in South Africa in 1986 while he was traveling with Coretta Scott King. After that, they uprooted their family and headed for the United States. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the institution, while Prince Thumbumuzi earned a bachelor’s degree in finance. She and her husband both attended the same university.

After around 27 years of marriage, the couple decided to divorce.

Because it lasted for more than 25 years, the royal marriage of Zenani Mandela to the Prince of Swaziland garnered a lot of attention from people all over the world. In the year 1994, when Nelson Mandela was sworn in as the first democratic president of South Africa, the couple started to have difficulties in their marriage. Because her parents were going through a divorce at the time, Zenani took up the role of acting First Lady of the nation. After then, she was only seen with her husband on a very infrequent basis, although she was regularly seen attending state events in the presence of her distinguished paternal grandfather.

In 2002, the Swazi Prince said that his marriage to Zenani Mandela had been in trouble ever since the couple divorced in the year 2000. He stated that this accusation was made. Despite the fact that their relationship had hit rock bottom, he said that he loves Zenani and that since they had married in the traditional Swazi fashion, she would continue to be his wife. It seems that when Nelson Mandela was still alive, he sought to mend the relationship with his former wife, but his efforts were ultimately fruitless. Even though they have not officially started the divorce process, everyone in the couple’s hometown believes that they are no longer married.

Zenani has retained both her title as a Princess as well as her husband’s surname after marrying Prince Thumbumuzi and became a member of the royal family with the title of Her Royal Highness. They have been together for for three decades, but neither of them has admitted what the root of the tension in their relationship is until now. During their time together, Zenani Mandela and the Swazi Prince were successful in having four children.

The Children of Prince Thumbumuzi and Zenani Mandela are Presented Here

Before moving to the United States in 1987, Zenani Mandela and her ex-husband had already been successful in raising three children together. They became parents for the first time in 1977 to a little girl whom they called Zaziwe Dlamini. Two years later, in 2004, the couple had their second daughter, Zamaswazi Dlamini, bringing their total number of children to four. Both of their boys, Zinhle and Zozuko Dlamini, were born to them in the years 1980 and 1992, respectively. Let’s take a glimpse at Zenani Mandela’s descendants.

Before he wed Zenani Mandela, Prince Thumbumuzi was already the father of a number of children from previous marriages, one of which was Prince Cedza Dlamini. His first child with Princess Zenani, Zaziwe, was born on June 16, 1977 in Mbabane, which is located in the country of Swaziland. She is a fashion designer who earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Clark University in the United States. Her background is in the fashion industry. She started off her professional life as a professor at Bennett College in Greensboro. After that, Zaziwe held the position of living expert at both Seeds of Hope in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Coca-Cola Company in Johannesburg, South Africa. Additionally, she was a counselor at the Tara Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.

For a good number of years, Zaziwe has been on the board of directors of their family business, Mandela, Dlamini, and Associates. In addition to this, she is a director on the board of Oxypite, a South African company that develops software for online casinos. In 2013, Zaziwe was a featured contestant on the reality program Being Mandela. Her husband’s name is David Manaway, and the couple has a child together whom they have called Ziyanda David Manaway.

Born in Welkom, South Africa in 1979, Zamaswazi Dlamini-Mandela is a successful business owner, public speaker, and developer of companies. She is also a member of the Mandela family. Her pride and joy is the luxury fashion company Swati by Roi Kaskara, which she launched in the year 2017. At the university, she studied marketing and public relations and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in both fields. Before opting to pursue a career in the fashion and retail industries, she spent a significant portion of her time working in public relations. She was in charge of the commercial projects that Mango and Claire were involved in, in addition to the press office for the House of Busby.

Over the course of her career, she has worked as a management consultant for a variety of companies, the most of which have been in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. The Nelson Mandela Foundation and Zamaswazi collaborated to write the book “491 Days.” Zamaswazi was the primary author. She was a co-producer of a documentary on her grandmother, Winnie Mandela, and worked on the publishing of “Prison Letters,” which were written by Nelson Mandela when he was serving time in prison. In addition to being a founding partner of Qunu Workforce and a co-founder of the Long Walk of Freedom Brand, Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter is also an entrepreneur.

Zinhle and Zozuko Mandela, who are their mother Zenani’s boys, are not as outgoing as their sisters. As a direct consequence of this, there is a paucity of information on them that can be found in the media. In contrast to that, the diplomat’s first son is a medical professional. In December of 2009, after he finished his studies at the University of Limpopo’s Medunsa campus, he took the Hippocratic Oath as part of his graduation requirements. His maternal grandparents, Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini and Princess Zelani Madela-Dlamini, as well as his parents, Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini and Princess Zelani Madela-Dlamini, were present for the graduation ceremony.

This indicates that the former couple appreciates time spent with their children and that they continue to do so even when they are no longer together. 1992 was the year that they welcomed the arrival of their last child, Zozuko Dlamini. The details of his private life are never revealed to the general public. As a direct consequence of this development, he has limited access to his Instagram account.

The Diplomat Does Not Have Any Kind of Relationship at This Time

Since the end of her marriage, Zenani Mandela has not been in a romantic relationship, nor has she been the subject of any speculations of a possible new love interest. It would seem that her illustrious professional career has taken precedence over her personal life as a result of the attention that it has brought to her. During the reign of Jacob Zuma, South Africa’s current president, she was given the position of ambassador to Argentina. She was appointed by Cyril Ramaphosa to serve as South Africa’s high commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius, a position she held for a period of five years. Since 2019, Princess Zenani has served as South Africa’s representative and ambassador in South Korea.
