SABC manager allegedly plots attack on presenter — including plans to torch his car

The SABC has parted ways with a manager who was accused of allegedly plotting attacks on a popular presenter.

It is alleged that the two were not in good terms and the axed manager was bent on making the presenter’s life miserable.

That is according to some report in the highly reputable Sunday newspaper City Press.

The paper alleges that the senior manager was given his marching orders after a disciplinary hearing was held.

However, Borentsi Mooko, now ex-Sesotho news bulletin editor at the SABC’s headquarters in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, opted for early retirement after being confronted by the head of news.

It is reported that a leaked audio is what led to the axing and the audio recording was made viral.

Lefu Mokhoto, Mooko’s co-accused and now former news bulletin writer at SABC, has been fired in connection with the incident.

It is stated that tensions were high and the working environment between them wasno longer conducive.

Their intended target was Sesotho news presenter Tshediso Mahloane, who has since opened a case at the Brixton police station.

Police were not quoted in the article but it is reported that a report was made.

Mooko allegedly suspected Mahloane — who she had recruited from Lesedi FM earlier this year — of being a spy planted to have her ousted from the SABC. She also accused Mahloane of witchcraft.

Details are still sketchy at the moment but investigations have opened the can of worms.

The audio recording has been handed over to the police, and Mooko can reportedly be heard informing Mokhoto of her suspicions.

All this is contained in the Sunday edition of City Press newspaper.

According to the report, Mokhoto says “the boys” must beat Mahloane up, burn his car, and “close his eyes.”

Both the accused did not give their side of the story.

Joseph Makwela rose from herding cattle to being a global music icon

Mbaqanga pioneer Joseph Makwela lost his life on Tuesday in what has been described as a huge loss to the music industry.

Dimunitive, soft-spoken, and unassuming, Makwela leaves a huge legacy, having cemented his place in the annals of music history. What a journey it was.

From herding cattle in the village, to being a labourer in Pretoria, to the studios of Joburg and performing in township halls and later the music capitals of the world.

To think that a young black man from Limpopo who in the 1950s joined the throngs who trekked to Pretoria to sell their labour beat the odds to become a “somebody”.

All it took was the sound of the pennywhistle Makwela heard while working in “the kitchens”, or white surburbs. He was so entranced he and Monama begged Johannes Ngubane to teach them to play and, along the way, took up the bass and stuck to it.

Thought to be the first South African to play the electric bass, Makwela had a unique voice. He thumbed that instrument like he was ringing a bell.

Makwela’s full-bodied sound on what was ordinarily a low-end “backing instrument” is beautifully complemented by Mankwane’s brilliant – and also quite unique – guitar riffs.

They were two of the five original members of the Makhona Tsohle Band, that recorded numerous records for Gallo Music company’s new black music unit, Mavuthela Music, run by producer Rupert Bopape.

The pairing of Mankwane and Makwela became the signature of mbaqanga.

Their sound is punctuated by the thundering brasso profundo call of groaner Simon “Mahlathini” Nkabinde, and the response of the angelic voices of the Mahotella Queens.

In #Xrepo, Mzansi Gives Hands Of Applause To This Lady For Standing Up For Herself

Mzansi has been giving hands of applause to a lady who recently appeared in #Repo, for standing up for herself. A lady wrote to the show because her foreign husband chased her out of the house and he no longer want her. The show has been watched by millions of people following mixed reactions against South African woman who are committed to marry foreigners for money.

In this episode, Nigerians man marry South African women to get into SA and do his business. The lady has shut down the liquid busness which has been registered her name. Her husband named, Julius has opened all her businesses including buying cars under her name. The turn of the event is the foreigner nation husband is very abusive and she cannot take it anymore.

Viewers were so disappointed by the lady on #Xrepo shame. The business was under her name but because she was angry at her husband she decided to take the stock, then close the business. What viewers don’t understand is her asking the guy to open a business for. She can do loans for the guy and liquor licenses but can’t open her own business. She said she’s does not want anything to do with the places that the businesses are at, or you think it was better if she opted to share profits?

Viewers think there were other ways she could opted for than to take the stock. One she could have divorced the guy and split things half and then make sure the guy is out if her way than doing pitty shit like that.
