Looking back at Toya Delazy’s relationship with her ‘woke’ grandfather Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) founder died at the age of 95. Buthelezi’s death was confirmed in a statement released by his family.

Delazy, is among the Buthelezi grandchildren, who had a strong relationship with Buthelezi and his late wife Princess Irene.

The ‘Love Is In The Air’ hitmaker in a previous interview with City Press, expressed that her grandfather was “woke” amid criticism she received for wearing ibheshu (traditional Zulu attire commonly worn by men) at a ceremony celebrating her grandfather’s 90th birthday.

“My grandfather gives me hope that it is possible for tribalism to end. He is a 90-year-old man who is woke, understanding, who is not judgemental and accepted me for who I am.“If a Zulu man, the Prime Minister of the Zulu nation, someone who is tribal to that extent, can grow and understand the world now, it is possible,” she told the publication.

Princess Irene, died in 2019 after “a long and difficult illness”, the award-winning musician openly shared how the death was hard on her.“I wrote Qhawe last year after devastatingly losing my grandma. Struggling with the loss of someone so special, I found myself in a dark place and at war with my own mind,” she said.

Delazy is yet to publicly share her sentiments regarding her grandfather’s passing and is not taking interviews at the moment.

Her most recent social media posts feature a picture of herself with musician Seun Anikulapo Kuti, where she celebrated their heritage of coming from great African descendants.

Sunday World reports that Sne’s father, Sandile Zungu, who’s the club’s owner hired a helicopter to drop off his daughter in style at the alter to make her feel special.

Zimoja previously reported that Zungu and the club’s striker tied the knot in a traditional ceremony on Sunday, 28 May with family and close friends.

It is revealed that the pair’s umembeso was held at her father’s private residence in the Midlands and their engagement and wedding was kept a secret as they didn’t want people to know, especially the media.

Sne’s older brother Bonga was the MC, her father Sandile Zungu, who recently had a baby reportedly gave his daughter away to her new family and guests honoured the black and white theme.

“The isiZulu traditional do forms part of the process of a traditional isiZulu wedding – that celebrates the union between two families and is usually done once lobola has been paid and involves the exchange of gifts”, adds the publication.

Guests who attended the traditional ceremony included businessman Moses Temba, Amazulu players Ramahlwe Mphahlele, George Maluleka Dumisani Zuma, Mbongeni Gumede, Samkelo Mgwazela, Thembela Sikhakhane, Sibusiso Mabiliso as well as TV presenter Richard Ndlela with his wife Tumi.

‘BONGI NTULI FELL IN LOVE WITH SNE AT FIRST SIGHT’
Sources close to Amazulu striker Bongi Ntuli and CEO Sinenjabulu “Sne” Zungu revealed to Zimoja that the pair met in 2022 when the Zungus took over the club.

“It was love at first sight. Initially, they tried to fight off the feelings because they work together but couldn’t win. For S’ne meeting Bongi came at the right time because she had been single after breaking up with the daddy of her child.”

Another source said: “What I know is Bongi used to have a baby mama, with whom they have two children, and he often posted them on his social pages.”

The source adds that Ntuli sent his uncles to the Zungus to negotiate lobola: “The wedding bells will ring soon, that much I can assure you. Mr Zungu is supportive of his children in whatever endeavours they engage in and Sne is no exception.”

She continued: “The ways in which Kiernan has been honoured, in the month’s following his death, speaks volumes. The recognition, tributes and pouring out of love is bigger than his talent as an artist, it’s a reflection of the human being he was, the impact he made and the legacy he created.”

Lynn added that it is her duty, privilege and purpose to preserve AKA’s legacy for his daughter Kairo and the Megacy.

Court expected to call Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s bail TODAY

Court expected to call Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s bail TODAYThe verdict that will determine whether controversial Doctor Nandipha Magudumana gets out on bail is expected to be ruled by the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court on Monday, 11 September, EWN reported.

Magudumana has spent several months behind bars since her arrest in Tanzania with her rapist and murderer boyfriend, Thabo Bester in April. The popular couple ditched South Africa after they were spotted shopping together following Bester’s successful escape from the maximum security prison, Mangaung Correctional Centre. He had staged his death by starting a fire in his prison cell and dumping the lifeless body of Katlego Bereng in his place.

Nine of the co-accused linked to Bester’s elaborate prison escape have already been granted bail by different courts, TimesLIVE reported.

Meanwhile, Magudumana has previously abandoned her bail application. And, instead, launched a court bid to have her arrest declared unlawful by the Free State High Court. Unfortunately, her attempts were unsuccessful. She had also argued that she had been forced to leave the country by Bester. However, after seeing her interaction with him in court, the court rubbished the claims.

MORE ABOUT THE DOCTOR IN COURT
Nandipha Magududumana is facing charges of fraud, corruption, violating a corpse, defeating the ends of justice, aiding and abetting an inmate to escape from lawful custody, concealing an escaped offender, and arson, IOL reported.

During her last appearance in court, it was determined that she was willing to pay R10 000 for her bail. And, in a bid to grant her bail, Magudumana’s lawyer, Machini Motloung argued that his client would not be a flight risk as she has family and occupational ties in the country, SABC reported.
