Another huge blow for Ambitiouz Entertainment as popular singer, Cici dumps them – Here’s why

South African controversial music label Ambitiouz Entertainment has lost yet another artist as a local publication reports that songtress Cici is no longer with the label.

The Hamba Juba hitmaker, whose real name is Busisiwe Thwala, joined Ambitiouz after her abuse allegations against her ex-boyfriend, Arthur Mafokate, who had signed her under his stable 999 Music.

A source said that she had been planning her exit from Ambitiouz last year and reportedly left a few months ago.

“The exploitation at Ambitiouz Entertainment is only bearable if you are a newcomer in the music industry and you are seeking to make a name for yourself.

“But the seasoned singers like Cici who just can’t stand it leave the label in great numbers,” the source said.

The record label has become notorious for being outed and dragged to court by its artists – with its recent legal battle being against Blaq Diamond who won at the South Gauteng High Court last week. They’re also allegedly still battling it out against Bokang Moleli, better known as Malome Vector.

On Monday, 12 June, Ambitiouz was ordered by the South Gauteng High Court to pay all the costs of the interdict Blaq Diamond filed against them last year. The music group – made up of singers Ndumiso “Ndu Browns” Mdletshe and Siphelele “Danya Devs” Dunywa – successfully interdicted YouTube and Ambitiouz Entertainment from deleting their music from their YouTube channel and all distributing platforms.

The duo’s victory comes after Ambitiouz had removed its hit song Qoma (featuring Big Zulu) from YouTube claiming copyright infringement.

Blaq Diamond’s lawyer, Jade Louella Naidoo, said that the next step is to declare their contracts invalid and unconstitutional because they are exploitative.
