Mzansi actor Israel Moketse Zulu has left Gomora and fans cannot even process this information. Most of us know him for his role as the notorious GP in the SABC 1 drama series Gaz’lam, which aired from 2002-2005. After several roles, Israel returned to Mzansi magic’s drama Gomora as Don. “It was challenging stepping into the shoes of a father who had abandoned his child and is trying to regain his child’s love and trust. But as an actor, there is no special role. A role is a role and you always have to prepare for it.”
Playing the challenging role of a gangster called Don on Gomora, Israel kept fans glued to the screen during his outstanding trademark antics. His presence is going to be missed. Earlier this year Israel revealed that the reason he has left the show is not by choice. “Yes am leaving. My contract was not renewed,” the actor said. Humbly accepting his exit, disappointed Israel is pleased that his leaving means other Mzansi actors will be given a chance on the show to showcase their talent. Fellow co-actors on Gomora took to social media to share farewell messages for talented Israel. Salam Chunu shared a picture of Israel and the farewell message “It was such a pleasure working with you Don we miss you already”
Don was adored by many fans of the show his exit came as a shock to many. The reason why the show decided not to renew its contract is unclear but it could be because Mam’Sonto is coming back in December. Mamsonto is played by actress Connie Chiume. She announced her return on her Instagram. Mamsonto took time off the screen to focus on her role on black panther. Mamsonto’s return is eagerly awaited by fans and from the December teaser Mamsonto’s return will be coupled with drama, Mazet will be paralyzed and everyone will turn their backs on her except for Ntokozo who will move in with Mazet in his parent’s house.
