Anele Mdoda and Sello Maake kaNcube defend DJ Zinhle’s coparenting stance

DJ Zihle’s daughter Kairo recently celebrated her birthday with both her parents. However in stead of being able to enjoy the weekend with her child and in a joyful mood, Zinhle had to defend herself all throughout the day yesterday and this morning.

According to Twitter trolls she shouldn’t be able to co-parent with her ex AKA.

This time though, the attack against Zinhle stung. There was something quite wholesome and beautiful about the birthday video. No one can tell me honestly that Kairo shouldn’t have both parents at her party. Yet Twitter was filled with such nonsense.

Anele Mdoda and Sello Maake kaNcube decided to come forward and weigh in on the dispute themselves. An impassioned Anele wrote, “The same people that dared to opine on Zinhle and Aka and how they choose to raise their daughter in an environment filled with love and no anxiety causing tension are the same ones that preach mental health and throw around buzz words like heal.”

She went on to explain that herself has an excellent relationship with the father of her child Alakhe, calling the haters, “dark”.

Sello had his own words to add to the fray with his own experience and wrote, “South Africans are really sad, @DJZinhle is doing what many of us wished and longed for most of our lives. For our babymamas to be matured enough & put aside our differences as parents and allow us access to our children! Zinhle, women should learn from you. You have my respect!”

Its clear that South Africans on Twitter clearly do not understand the concept of co-parenting. I think it’s important to note that in a country with so many single mothers, we should be encouraging healthy relationships between the parents. It helps no one when we exclude the fathers who actually WANT to be there.
