Following the reported breakthrough that the South African Police Services (SAPS) have made surrounding Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes murder case. Subsequently, the late former Bafana Bafana footballer Senzo Meyiwa’s murder case is brought up for questioning.
Recently, there was a public outcry where concerns surrounding AKA’s murder were raised. Where the public was under the impression that this particular murder case will follow the similar trajectory as the one of the late Senzo Meyiwa.
Meyiwa was shot and killed in 2014 at his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus. After years of futile attempts to crack the case and jail Meyiwa’s shooters. Instead, a number of people have been in and out of prison as they were believed not to the real killers. Currently Meyiwa’s murder trial sits at the Gauteng High Court, with five (5) suspects already in prison.
AKA’s murder case breakthrough have since raised public’s eyebrows, as scores of people feel as though a different kind of energy and pressure should be applied, to avoid history repeating itself like in Senzo Meyiwa’s murder case.
“To avoid a Senzo Meyiwa situation serious journalistic questions need to be asked about the #AKA case arrests. Including questions about timing. Questions about the charges. The public have also since raised concerns that Senzo Meyiwa’s case should in fact take priority before Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes murder case. However, that is not how the police and justice system’s works. More concerns have also surfaced as the public also fear whether the police arrested the right people or not. This alone will avoid the similar back and forth that transpired in Meyiwa’s case, which then weakened the case, while the police lost credibility.
“I just hope they got the right people we don’t want another Senzo Meyiwa drama , arresting the wrong people” wrote The Instigator

For police not to lose credibility with the breakthrough they have made surrounding AKA’s murder case. The public have urged for a high profile individual (s) whom is believed to have been behind this murder to be arrested. Otherwise, AKA’s murder case will definitely follow closely in the similar footsteps as the ones of Senzo Meyiwa.
“If anyone is arrested in AKA’s murder case, there should be a high profile individual arrested as well, if not, then it is another Senzo Meyiwa saga, where criminals are bought to agree in committing a crime, Bheki Cele must be ashamed, Bester, Senzo, AKA” wrote Wa Mavu
