The Mzansi soapie scene has been robbed of another great young talent. Confirmed news suggests that actress Thandela Mdeliswa has died. The 34-year-old was confirmed dead by family on the 5th of September 2020. Mdeliswa is best known for her role on SABC 1 show, Ikani. She was 34handeka Mdeliswa’s family confirmed that she died after being shot. In a statement released to the public, a family spokesperson wrote :  “She was shot in Evander, Mpumalanga on Thursday 3 September 2020. She was immediately rushed to Evander hospital, stabilized, and then airlifted to Witbank after which she was transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital (Pretoria). She passed on on the morning of the 5th of September (Saturday).Thandeka Mdeliswa is known to be the young actress who played 25-year-old Khanya on drama Ikani.. She previously landed minor roles on local soaps Generations: The Legacy, Isidingo, and Rhythm City, and a bigger one on the SABC1 short story series Ngempela.

She made her breakthrough after landing a leading role in Ikani, and she said it was “a dream come true” for her.

In 2018 she starred in another “Lokshin Bioskop” movie on Mzansi Magic, called Imoto Kokufa. The movie is about a young man whose desperation to own a fancy car leads him down a dangerous path when he purchases his boss’s wife’s stolen car.

Later that year Thandeka landed her first starring role in the SABC1 drama series iKani as Khanya, a young artist who finds out that she is from an isiNdebele family despite being brought up by her aunt as a Zulu. The series premiered on Sunday 30 September 2018.
