One of South Africa’s most celebrated actors Tshisiwe Ziqubu has finally broken his silence.
Ziqubu went through a gender transition and it seemingly caight many South Africans by surprise but the buck does not stop there.
He took to social media to answer questions about his gender transition. His fans had a lot to ask and he did take the time to answer to the questions.
“Please don’t call me Tish. That is not my name. My name is Thishiwe. Please don’t call me girl or actress. I’m trans, and I’m an actor. Thanks,” he tweeted.
This would clearly won that he is proudand happy of what he has become.
However, his plea was followed by many intrusive questions, which he also answered. The actor took the opportunity to educate people about transgender.
Ziqubu is a South African film director, writer and actor. He won Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards for his portrayal of Tshaka in the romantic comedy Tell Me Sweet Something.
Besides directing and acting, he has also prominently written for some local daily soapies.
He has also written for South African television soap operas Isidingo and Rhythm City and for Is’Thunzi which is a drama series.
