It takes time and money to plan a wedding, but if you want a modest, intimate ceremony, that’s what you should do. Only invite folks you intend to see at the ceremony, and then show them some hospitality following. You can have a bigger celebration at a later date.

What matters is that the couple in the photo is content with their decision to get married, regardless of what happens in the background.

In my experience, every wedding I’ve attended where a lot of money was spent on the ceremony and reception ended with the couple getting a divorce. Everyone. All the short-lived marriages, or better yet, elopements, have turned out to be successful in the long run. The initial lack of pressure is probably the main factor.
