AKA’s Murder Weapon Found

South Africa woke up to the devastating news about the fatal shooting of Kiernan Forbes who was famously known as AKA in the music industry, he was gunned down from close range on Saturday the 9th of February 2023 after he just stepped out of a restaurant in Durban, a man wearing a hoody ran towards him and shot him in the head before fleeing from the scene leaving the musician and his friend dead on the scene.

The South African Police Services have been working around the clock trying to get to find out who may have shot and killed the 35-year-old rapper, investigations seems to be breaking through after the new reports which have just emerged, it is reported that the gun which was used on that fatal night has been found in Umlazi.

According to reports, a man in his early 20s was arrested over the weekend in Umlazi, they suspect was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, it was then taken for ballistic test and when the results came back, it was discovered that it is the very same weapon which was used to kill AKA.

“The firearm used in the brazen shooting of South African hip hop star Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes has been recovered by police. Sources close to the investigation confirmed that a man in his early 20s, was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Umlazi, south of Durban at the weekend. The firearm was sent for ballistic testing and came back positive as the weapon used to gun down Forbes on the evening of 10 February 2023,” reports suggests.

This is a major breakthrough since the family will finally have closure knowing that the man who killed their loved one is behind bars serving his time, unlike in many other cases in South Africa where people are shot and killed and no one gets arrested to account for that murder, Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed nine years ago, till this day, no one has been sentenced, maybe it will be a different story with this one.
