Yvonne ChakaChaka _Mhinga is an internationally recognized South African singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, humanitarian and teacher. She is a woman with many hats and not afraid to chase her dreams and have a brighter future. She is sensational and phenomenal woman who inspires young people out there to work hard to achieve their goals. She is vibrant and embracing person who is hardworking, dedicated and committed to her profession and she is doing outstanding work.
She is intelligent and independent woman who is very passionate about her work and she has made a name for herself. She was born and raised in Dobsonville Soweto, Gauteng Province under the care of her parents who were very supportive of her career decisions. She has built herself a solid foundation for her career.
She teaches literacy part time at Unisa, and she was appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for the university. She sits on several boards of charitable and NGO organisations, and was recently appointed to the board of the Johannesburg Tourism Company. She is one of the most influential people in the country and abroad.
She has been at the forefront of South African popular music for 35 years and has been popular in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Gabon, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast. She rose to fame in the 1980s and consequently earned a name “Princess of Africa.” She is a loving and devoted mother of four grown sons and a wife of Dr Mandlalele (Tiny) Mhinga. She has a degree and diploma from the University of South Africa, one in adult education, another in local government, management and administration.
