South Africa is one of the countries in Africa that welcomes international visitors. South Africa is home to people from many other countries, including Zimbabweans, Indians, Chinese, and Nigerians. Similar to this, there are also South Africans living abroad. Some well-known people from South Africa are often mistakenly identified as being from Zimbabwe.
Mona Monyane, No. 1
Her role as Nthabeleng on SABC 2’s Muvhango is one that she will be remembered for. Mona played James’ girlfriend, the doctor Nthabeleng. Mona was born in Zimbabwe to South African parents who were in exile there during the apartheid era, which has led to the claim that she is a citizen of that country. However she has South African ancestry.
Lichaba, Sophie
Sophie Lichaba is a famous South African actress and producer who played Queen Moroka on Generations from 1994 until 2014, when she was one of 16 actors dismissed by Mfundi Vundla for requesting higher pay. Sophie received her higher education in Harare, Zimbabwe, rather than in South Africa, where only whites were allowed to attend university. Her first husband, Themba Ndaba, also went to school and worked in Zimbabwe.
