DJ Zinhle and her daughter Kairo recently sent a special gift to Nadia Nakai, the girlfriend of South African rapper AKA. The gift, a pair of earrings from Zinhle’s Era brand, was shared by Nakai on her Instagram Story on March 16.
Nakai has been spending time with Kairo, who is the daughter of AKA and Zinhle, and shared a video on March 12 of the two playing with a filter on Instagram. In the video, Kairo can be heard singing while Nakai tries to figure out why the filter is not working on her face. Nakai also shared a photo of herself and Kairo on AKA’s Instagram page.
AKA and DJ Zinhle welcomed Kairo in 2015 and have co-parented her since their split in 2019. The former couple has been praised for their amicable co-parenting relationship and for prioritizing Kairo’s well-being.

The news of the gift comes just over a month after AKA’s tragic death. The rapper, whose real name was Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was shot and killed outside of Wish Restaurant on Florida Road on February 10. His death shocked the South African music industry and fans around the world.
In the wake of his death, many of AKA’s friends and collaborators have paid tribute to him on social media. DJ Zinhle shared a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram page, writing, “I will always carry you with me. I will forever be grateful for the beautiful parts of you that live on in Kairo. May your soul rest in peace, AKA.”
Nakai, who was in a relationship with AKA at the time of his death, has also shared her grief on social media. In a post on her Instagram Story, she wrote, “My heart is broken. I don’t know how to do this without you. I miss you so much.”
Despite the tragedy, it is heartening to see that the co-parenting relationship between DJ Zinhle and AKA remained strong. Their willingness to put their differences aside and prioritize Kairo’s well-being is a testament to their love for their daughter and their commitment to being good parents. The gift from DJ Zinhle and Kairo to Nakai is a touching reminder of the bond between the families and the importance of supporting each other in times of grief.
