Kganya Mokhele, who was killed in an accident at Bedfordview Crèche, has been laid to rest.

The family of three-year-old Kganya Mokhele, who died after a bookshelf collapsed on him at a creche in Bedfordview on Tuesday, 7 March has accused the preschool of trying to cover up what happened.

The toddler was seen on CCTV footage reaching for a toy on the massive structure when it collapsed on top of him.

It’s understood that school staff moved him to the sick bay before paramedics arrived.

He later died at the Linksfield Hospital.

According to News24, the incident occurred just after 09:00, however, the boy’s father was only called to the scene after 10:00.

The family accused the creche of being negligent.

The boy’s grandfather Sipho Radebe said they received ill-treatment from the staff when they demanded to see the footage.

“The treatment that we got when we demanded to see the footage — we saw the footage at 6 o’clock because we didn’t want to leave this place [before seeing the footage]. It became really ugly because we were demanding to see the footage to find out what happened
