Zahara is set to open up in a new reality show ‘As I Rise’ were she will delve about her love life, family, battles and betrayals.
The artist said shooting the reality show had not been easy, but she took each day as it came.
One of the hardest episodes she shot was when she had to pay a visit to her late sister’s grave.
The episode aired this past weekend and viewers saw the star break down at the gravesite while surrounded by her parents and siblings.
In 2021, the media reported that Nomonde Mkutukana, Zahara’s older sister, had died following a tragic road accident near Mooiplaas.
It was the second heartache for Zahara, who also lost her brother, Mbuyiseli, in 2014.
In past interviews she has attributed her brother’s shooting as the catalyst for the very public alcohol abuse problem which has plagued the latter years of what had been a meteoric-like music career.
“It’s hard because it is not like I am on a TV drama or series acting, but I am pouring my heart out there. It is difficult, even for the production people sometimes.”
Zahara said the response to the show had been overwhelming.
“The response from people has been so encouraging.
“The number of viewers has been high and the people from SABC have been very supportive.”
She was now on her own journey to start afresh, she said. Her new album, also titled As I Rise, will be launched in August.
She said the album would tell a tale about her new beginnings.
“Around August, people should expect the new album and I will be having my “Healing Women Concert” tour across the country, but I am going to start in Johannesburg during Women’s Month,” she said.
