Family, friends and fans came out in numbers to celebrate and remember the life of the late renowned South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd ‘AKA’ Forbes at The Sandton Convention Centre on Friday 17 February 2023. A week after the rapper was gunned down on Florida Road, in Durban.
AKA’s family wanted to include his fans so they held a public memorial service and they made tickets to the public. The rapper will be buried in a private ceremony on Saturday, 18 February.
Over 3000 people attended his memorial service. Amongst the attendees was Nandi Madida, Tresor, Thando Thabethe, Ma-E, Riky Rick’s wife Bianca, Mr Selwyn and Blxckie. Minister Lindiwe Sisulu was also spotted in the crowd. As well as Ntokozo Dlamini, Laduma Ngxokolo, Robert Marawa and Prince KB.
A fan, @kay_mahapa, took to Twitter to share how angry he was when he spotted Lindiwe Sisulu in the crowd. He posted this tweet, “Is that Lindiwe Sisulu in between AKA’s grieving parents? Walter & Albertina Sisulu we appreciate your contribution to our freedom but your offspring has gone too far. Just tuned in and this has disgusted me. I hate politicians bruh!”
