Gqom queen Babes Wodumo is known to have had a strained relationship with her late husband’s mother ZamaNguni Gumede. The pair previously butted heads when ZamaNguni accused the Wololo hitmaker of faking her pregnancy.

However, tragedy struck the family twice recently. Mampintsha passed away on 24 December 2022 after suffering a stroke. Just three weeks later after the untimely passing of her son, ZamaNguni passed away on 15 January – after suffering a stroke as well.

At ZamaNguni’s memorial service, her daughter-in-law danced in front of the casket which set tongues wagging online. However, the Gqom queen has cleared up the reason behind her dancing at her mother-in-law’s funeral.

She revealed that ZamaNguni is also her mother and she had forgiven her.

“I wasn’t doing this to show off or that I want the media to paint me in a good light. This woman lying here is also my mother, she gave birth to my husband,” she said to Drum.

“So God has taught me the ministry of forgiveness and I’ve done that,” she continued.
