The festive season is upon us and many people are looking at making a quick buck.

This has seen the rise in the number of scammers. South Africans have already been urged to be cautious as scammers target those bonuses.

Well known South African musician and TV presenter Khaya Mthethwa became the latest victim of an online scam.

 
Mthethwa shared his unfortunate incident on micro blogging site Twitter.

He stated that someone had sent him a proof of payment and then they made it seem as if there was a problem with his bank.

He added that the payment was for a booking.

He wrote: “You haven’t lived till someone has sent you a fake proof of payment!. then they gaslight you to think Somthing is wrong with your bank or account!”

The person who allegedly scammed him is someone from the entertainment industry whom Mthethwa knows very well.
