Unions want to keep an eye on the Ukhozi FM Top 10 on December 31

The Trade Union for Musicians of South Africa (TUMSA) and the Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of SA (CCIFSA) state they do not want any more upsets on December 31. This comes after SABC insiders revealed to Daily Sun that the competition was rigged.

According to a source, “several of the tracks in the Top 10 list were not even aired or playlisted on Ukhozi FM.”

According to a different source, the management was astounded when the list was revealed.

There were some songs that should have been in the Top 10 but weren’t because of biases.

According to a third source, the management neglected to monitor the procedure.

The list had already been made public by the time they realized their error.

According to Howard Msomi, secretary of CCIFSA KZN, there have been problems with the competition for many years.

“There is no openness in their selection procedure, so we are often caught off guard.

“We’ve tried to talk to management about these problems, but they just ignore us. As a result, we want to participate in the entire process and keep an eye on it, he said.

TUMSA’s Nomvula Maneli stated that they didn’t want the SABC to let them down once more. In years past, she recalled, “it was always a surprise song that had not had a lot of requests or broadcast.” Gugu Ntuli, a spokesperson for the SABC, refuted all of the accusations.

The songs are clearly well-liked by listeners because they have topped the charts, she said.

“With regard to the numbers, this is confidential information that the station is not permitted to share. On Ukhozi FM, every song that reached the Top 10 gets played.

When DJ Hlo’s song Isibani, which the majority of Mzansi residents had never heard before, won Record of the Year on Ukhozi FM many listeners were shocked.
