When DJ Hlo won the summer song of the year, many people professed dismay as she was not popular back then.
But she has now steadily grown into a house hold name.
DJ Hlo is set to appear in the popular Uzalo as herself. She will be part of the judges in the KwaMhashu Talent Show.
This was confirmed by Uzalo publicist Nomfundo Zondi who said: “I confirm that DJ Hlo will appear on Uzalo. And she will start appearing on the show next week.”
The Durban-born DJ said she shot the talent search scene with the production a few weeks ago.
“I might start appearing early next week. I am looking forward to appear in Uzalo and the reaction of my fans. I enjoyed every moment being on that set, though it takes the whole day to shoot.
“I am a judge and I like that I play myself. I learnt a lot by being there. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes before us as viewers see the final product on television. It was a great experience for me.”
DJ Hlo has just dropped a single titled Visa, said being part of Uzalo reignited a childhood dream of being a TV actor.
Though she agrees that acting is demanding and being on set is time-consuming, she still wants to be a TV star.
“While I was on that set I was imagining myself as an actor. I always wanted to act since I was young.
“Being on that set reminded me that I am a step closer from that reality. I will definitely pursue acting because I don’t want to focus only on music, I want to spread my wings.”
